Duda

Born in London in 1980, Irish-Italian artist David Uda (Duda) now lives and works between Dublin and New York. With a background in fashion and a love for the aesthetics of shape and form, Duda’s distinctive style is known for his use of colour, while his paintings can be characterized by his appreciation for beauty, combined with his own take on modern day life and pop culture. Unafraid to experiment with any artistic format, Duda is  known for exploring a wide variety of techniques, ranging from original stencil compositions to glasswork, along with his use of mixed media.

While Duda has been painting his whole life, he only started painting professionally in 2009, but this hasn’t stopped him from exhibiting his work and generating a following in major cities all over the world, namely London, Dublin, Hong Kong, Singapore, Stockholm, Bristol, South Korea, Chicago, Miami and New York. In 2013, Duda was selected by The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation to be amongst Ireland’s top 30 artists as part of their Big Egg Hunt Event. Sponsored by Brown Thomas, Duda’s work went on to raise €10k at live auction for the charity. More recently, Duda was commissioned by U2’s The Edge to paint a sculpture of a life sized horse as part of the Under stARTers campaign 2019, helping raise over €180k for children’s charity, Sensational Kids.
