Furnitureguy.ie is the brainchild of Steve O'Connor.

Born on the Northside of Dublin in the early 80s, hailing from the suburb of Clontarf, however, most of his formative years were spent on the Southside during his school days. One of the most common Dublin questions to be asked "Are you a north or Southsider?" But as Steve could never decide if he was a northsider or southsider, he would like to call himself a "NoSo" so it wouldn't cause arguments but deep down he always knew he was a true northsider.

After leaving school, Steve spent many years in the event management industry, fast-forward to 2013 when he decided to take a career change due to personal reasons, but had no idea what he wanted to do, however, the arts industry was something that always intrigued him, with love for this and the creativity of his mind, he stumbled on upcycling.

Furnitureguy.ie was born to provide bespoke upcycled furniture & accessories for both home and office spaces.

As with most things in life, change happens with techniques on how you do stuff, and you need to train to keep up with it all, so Steve has trained and worked with/alongside some of the best in the business including; Annie Sloan Paint (Trained), General Finishes Milk Paint (trained and worked with/alongside), Aileen Hogan / Shabby.ie & The Shabby/Fleetwood Paint Collection (trained and worked with/alongside), Fusion Mineral Paint (trained) and most recently (April '24) I retrained with Kata Roberts from Studio 27, Chelmsford, UK.

Every piece of furniture is restored and hand-painted to the highest standard and has had time lovingly spent on it to create a unique finish.

Our aim at furnitureguy.ie is to repurpose tired and unloved furniture into beautiful, striking, slick pieces. The kind of pieces to elegantly grace the most beautiful of rooms to complement existing furniture, or alternatively to work as a stand-alone accent.

The secret of furnitureguy.ie is to create a worthwhile new design, whilst keeping those memories.
